news about Durham's dying street oaks

...from Bull City Rising- an update on the city of Durham's plan to replace the dying oaks near Duke with Trident maples.   I've already a noticed a couple of interesting reader comments on the use of the downed trees for donated fuel or artistic interpretation. Volunteers are needed from 10-1 this Friday to help with the bare root plantings. Those interested should show up on the Markham side of Duke's East Campus wall.
